As a travel company specializing in tours to Manu National Park and Cusco, we recommend traveling from April to January, as this is the best time to visit the Manu jungle.

• In April, the rains subside, marking the end of the rainy season. May marks the beginning of our dry season, and all trips proceed as usual. There may be occasional moderate rain, usually at night and not every day.
• From May to October is our dry season, but the Amazon is also known as the rainforest, so even during this season, we may experience some rain, although not as much as during the rainy season.
• From October to January, there is a presence of rain, and the rainy season slowly begins. During these months, we continue to organize all our excursions as usual.
• From late January and the following months, February and March, is truly our rainy season. During this time, there are landslides that block roads, and some areas experience river flooding. The rains in this season can be quite torrential. Due to global warming, our seasons may be very different from what we are accustomed to.

Food is included in the excursions and is organized and prepared by our expert chefs. We provide vegetarian and vegan options as well as accommodate other dietary restrictions.

In general, Peruvian cuisine is truly delicious. Nutrition is a fundamental principle for us. We work directly with local farmers from the Andes and the Amazon who produce organic products used in our kitchen, including fruits, vegetables, tubers, grains, and fresh meats.

Mineral water is included in an ample quantity to ensure you have enough.

Our nature and culture guides are well-equipped, with a powerful telescope, a pair of binoculars, lamps, and plenty of information and identification material.

We have comfortable accommodations at the EcoManu Lodges and Casa Matsigenka Lodge.

• A sleeping bag is not necessary, but if you are taking our special expedition or survival experience, you will need one.
• Binoculars are essential for a better appreciation, enjoyment, and recognition of birds and other animals. Highly recommended!
• In the Amazon, it can get cold and rainy due to climate change. It’s always good to bring a good rain jacket. Cusco is located at over 3320 m, and nights can be quite cold, so a hat, gloves, and warm layers would be nice to have.
• Flashlights, shampoo, organic soap, a personal lightweight towel, simple sandals, and insect repellent are very helpful during the excursion.
• It’s important to bring a bottle or another container to refill with mineral water at all times and avoid using single-use plastic bottles and bags.

All our excursions are well-organized, and the vehicles and motorized boats used for the trips are new, well-prepared, and have passenger insurance and insurance for each unit. Motorized boats are equipped with life jackets, a roof covering the entire boat, and individual seating. Each excursion is assisted by a leader who serves as the tour guide.

We strongly recommend that you obtain International Medical Insurance. This insurance will connect you with a competent doctor who speaks Spanish, English, or your preferred language, and it also includes air evacuation.

Our excursion in the Amazon rainforest of Manu is organized in small groups of 2, 3, 6 tourists, and very rarely 10 tourists maximum per guide. Large groups scare wildlife and dilute the guide’s work. We own ECOMANU LODGE, where all activities are well-utilized, and attractions are close to the lodge. We enter the reserved area of the park and unexplored places in the Amazon with expeditionists, anthropologists, archaeologists, and photographers.

Another significant distinction of our trips is the quality of the guidance that involves firsthand teaching. The tropical jungle is extremely complex, where the naturalist guide puts into practice all their skills and senses for approaching the vast Amazonian biodiversity. The Amazon is a paradise to enjoy and explore the charms of this immense unknown world that has coexisted with us for millions of years.

There is very little risk of contracting a disease on our trips, especially in the Manu area due to its proximity to the eastern Andes.

It’s always good to have the yellow fever and tetanus vaccines. The cleanliness and excellent service provided by our chefs are noteworthy.

Most wild animals are extremely shy and cautious about contact with humans.

For each excursion, we have a good first aid kit and emergency numbers for all medical establishments and the national air rescue service in emergency situations. In our 14 years of work, we are grateful to God and our great team for taking good care of our customers. Zero emergency situations.

Our guests come from all over the world and of all ages, students, photographers, biologists, doctors, teachers, honeymoon couples, families with children, etc. EcoManu lodge organizes mostly private tours for Families. Photographers, bird watchers and documentary filmmakers.

Our guides are well-trained and equipped to detect every sound, such as the breaking of a branch or the fall of fruit from trees, whistles, songs, etc. They explore both the upper and lower branches, capturing any movement where creatures are seen blending into their surroundings. With this heightened attention and care to make minimal noise, the chances of observing both large and small creatures are much greater.

The Amazon and Manu have the greatest collection of life on Earth, so visitors expect to see many mammals, reptiles, and birds. However, it’s important to consider that evolution and survival in the Amazon can be challenging due to the density of vegetation. So, in our journey, we will encounter a variety of creatures, but not in large herds as in the case of Africa. Yet, the beauty and magic of the Amazon are truly unique.
