ECOMANU LODGE

It is an authentic sustainable ecotourism project, built by local families from Manu, with their own decisions and great conservation practices. This is the recommended place for every visitor, traveler, and photographer looking to enjoy a pure and authentic experience in the heart of the Amazon jungle.

WHY ECOMANU LODGE

  • The lodge has a well-designed trail system in different types of forests: primary forest, secondary forest, bamboo forest, wetlands, and small lakes within the forest for observing caimans, turtles, and hundreds of bird species.
  • We have a beautiful private observation tower for watching parrots, toucans, cotingas, eagles, and different groups of monkeys.
  • We have a tapir clay lick (a platform or hideout in the forest for observing mammals at night).
  • We conduct night walks in search of armadillos, nocturnal monkeys, olingos, aquatic snakes, tarantulas, and hundreds of frogs and insects.
  • We have a lovely open-air butterfly garden with hundreds of tropical plants and feeders that attract these beautiful Lepidoptera.
  • We have a natural garden for hummingbirds and feeders to attract beautiful tanagers and other fruit-eating birds.
  • We have an extensive botanical garden of medicinal plants from the Amazon designed by students from the Atalaya elementary school with the help of the great teacher Alberto Manqueriapo.
  • The lodge offers exotic fruits and practices in chocolate preparation with native chuncho cocoa.
  • Due to the proximity to Lake Machuwasi and the parrot clay lick, EcoManu Lodge offers half-day motorboat excursions.

CASA Matsigenka Lodge

Casa Matsigenka Lodge is located in the heart of the Reserved Zone of Manu National Park. Tourism activities in Manu contribute to maintaining the cultural identity of these communities and preserving the natural resources of the Park. Casa Matsigenka Lodge offers all visitors the privilege of staying in one of the largest and most important Natural Parks in Peru, where the greatest biodiversity of Amazonian flora and fauna is found.

Casa Matsigenka is an ecotourism initiative established in the 1990s by the two main Matsigenka native communities, Tayacome and Yomibato, residing in Manu National Park, with the support of a Germany-based NGO. This ecological lodge was created to provide people living in Manu with a way to engage in nature and culture ecotourism to strengthen their cultural identity.

The lodge’s name (Casa Matsigenka) is an accurate description of the construction of its cabins, which follow the model of accommodation used by the local people and are managed by the families of Tayacome and Yomibato.

The lodge has a spacious dining room and kitchen, perfectly covered with mosquito nets. It has 7 cabins, each with two double rooms; the lodge can accommodate a total of 30 people. Each bed is equipped with sheets, pillowcases, pillows, mosquito nets, and towels. The shared bathrooms and showers are well-implemented. The entire construction has a good lighting system with solar panels and ample power for charging batteries.
